Chaplaincy Seminar for students of our Diploma in Contextual Islamic Studies & Leadership

Students of our Diploma in Contextual Islamic Studies & Leadership have the opportunity to undertake work placements, giving them real-world experience in applying their religious knowledge and training in their communities. Term 3 sees the students undertake Chaplaincy placements at our local hospital, Addenbrooke’s, part of the Cambridge University Hospitals trust.

To kick off their placement, Cambridge Muslim College was delighted to host a bespoke Chaplaincy Seminar, inviting alumni and external guests for an afternoon to explore Chaplaincy, not only in the NHS but also in university and prison contexts.

We were delighted to be joined by Cambridge Muslim College alumnus Shaykh Hassan Rabbani, as well as long-standing NHS Chaplain Rehana Sadiq, who gave short presentations about their many years of experience in the field. The students heard wonderful introductions to Chaplaincy in the healthcare context, delivered by our hosts from Addenbrooke’s: Deputy Lead Chaplain Reverend Scott Watts and Reverend Petra Shakeshaft. The afternoon was full of discussion and engagement and students left looking forward to the term ahead and the opportunities that careers in Chaplaincy can bring.

Admissions are open for our unique diploma in Contextual Islamic Studies & Leadership, which equips Dar al-Ulum graduates & others trained in the Islamic sciences with practical skills & real world experience that, in turn, develop their leadership skills and enhances their career prospects.
